E' noto a tutte che il plumcacke è considerato il dolce dela tradizione anglosassone, ma forse non tutti sanno che nella lingua inglese, si intende per plumcake un dolce di origine tedesca, fatto di prugne: la parola plum indica infatti la prugna.
Questi dolci hanno forma piatta e vengono confezionati con pasta frolla oppure lievitata: sono quindi paragonabili alle crostate.
